It was early one morning and I was trying to get the old
heart started with a hot cup of coffee when the phone rang. I muttered “Hello”, still trying to come out of my sleepy stupor.
“Howdy Scoop ‘ole buddy, ‘ole pal” was emanating from the other end of the line. In an instant I was wide-awake. “OK Sam,
what is it this time?” It seems that Mantis, Boomer and Wabigbear were all tied up on other assignments and my services
were needed to do a park walk-through. After explaining that I was getting too old to be traipsing around all over the
world I was reminded of all of the good times I’d enjoyed. I knew the day would come when I would be called from
retirement to help out again. Sure, why not I said. Sam filled me in on the assignment and I started to think of
what I needed for this assignment. After a short discussion I hung up and started packing. Warm temperatures, swaying
palms and exotic women were in order for this trip.
A short time later I’m in the air headed for the South Pacific. During my long trip I dozed and dreamed about of all
things, Bing and Bob in their only color road picture ‘Road to Bali’. Also interspersed were scenes from “South Pacific”
and Juanita Hall singing ‘Bali Hai’ Flying in over the floating emerald islands of the Indonesian archipelago I am
reminded that for centuries they have lured everyone from missionaries to pirates, mining companies and backpackers
to their sandalwood and spice breezes, their Bali Hai lifestyle and their magnificent beaches, mountains and volcanoes.
I’m on the ground and off to the hotel. I check-in and relax getting ready for my trip to the majesty and mystery of the
South Pacific that has been recreated in one of the most unique parks submitted to RCT2.com. I now bring to life V.O.C.
