Heading
across the bridge into Vietnam, I’m reminded of a
war-torn land with the sound of choppers and gunfire
ringing in my ears. The smell of the jungle and
napalm permeates the air, as I cautiously make my
way to The Viper. My fear of snakes is suddenly
overtaken by a run to entrance, watching closely for
trip wires and punji stakes. I board this venomous
apparition, waiting for it’s stinging bite. I
don’t have to wait long as the serpent starts to
rise and then drop to a coiling loop. It’s
twisting and writhing has me holding on to the seat
restraint with a death grip as it rolls and
undulates through the jungle. Moments later I am
back at the serpent’s den, drenched in sweat. My
knuckles are white and the adrenaline is coursing
through my veins. Where’s my scooter, I have to
find a safe haven to compose myself. Now that the
dramatic section of my walk-thru is done I have to
give this serpent two thumbs up. Across the way I
spy a Jungle Swing, Earl has made his presence known
in these parts too. The Typhoon looks good with its
unique theming, but I’m on a hunt for more thrills
in this vast Continent.

I
give my trusty steed a nudge towards an impressive
looking area called the Middle East. Given the size
of this park it is really easy to navigate. Plenty
of signs and maps to keep you “Orient”ed. I
know, bad joke, but I was just checking to see if I
had lost anyone yet. Through the gates and I’m
headed out on Aladdin’s Adventure. Nice touch of
architecture to bring a splash boat ride to life.
Kind of reminds me of Escape from Pompeii at BGW.
That was another one of Mike’s great RCT park
recreations.
